The applications run on a remote iphone application server and push the notifications to your iphone. This simulates running an app in the background, while saving battery life and CPU cycles. Pretty ingenious. One issue is that its bandwidth dependent. I suppose that&#039;s less of an issue for the G3 phones. I&#039;m on G1..</description>
