Spectacle Rules
I am a MASSIVE Elvis Costello fan.
Let’s get that out of the way.
Have you seen his new talk show on Sundance called “Spectacle, Elvis Costello with…”?
EC has always been a very good interview subject. He loves to talk and is insanely eloquent and intelligent. A true historian of music and all its forms. If you haven’t seen the show, I highly recommend it. So far my favorite episode was one of the first with the Police. It was filmed at the tail end of their recent reunion tour. Here’s a clip of him asking the band to name their favorite Police songs.

Saw this episode and after catching the concert last year in KC I can honestly say – so glad I got to witness both. I did have the whole Sting/Stuart thing backwards though. Always thought Sting was the aggressor, yet after watching this show – I felt physically uncomfortable watching Stuart act like a jackass, the expression on Sting’s face gives it all away. Still top 5 band for me. Rock!
I think back in the day, the alpha dog was Sting. I have a great DVD called “Everyone Stares” that is a career retrospective and back in the 80′s Sting was insane. Copeland though, he is and always has been 100% certifiable. For sure. I would have liked to have seen the reunion tour up close but watching it on pay per view was just as satisfying.
