So, I don’t pretend to be an expert hiker. But, I do enjoy it a great deal. I’ve invested in some decent gear, and I love to get outside and just go. I’ve been sharing it with my son and I also enjoy hiking solo.

Recently my son and I hiked a portion of the 8 mile Fish Creek Trail on the Clackamas River about 10 miles east of Estacada, Oregon. It is a truly gorgeous place as some of these videos can attest to on the water. Today, I decided to do the full 8 mile loop and it was righteous. I needed to get away from town and just commune with the quiet of the forest and the river. 16 miles in Chaco sandals was quite an experience but it worked.

I’m thankful that I live in such a gorgeous state where all one needs to do is drive 30 minutes in any direction to find tranquility. Drive another hour and you are in the sticks! This trail is halfway between both.

To see the full collection of shots I took today you can click to my Flickr page or watch these videos.

The videos are fun. It was 100+ degrees on this day and I jumped in the river twice! The 3rd one was captured in a rather perilous spot standing knee deep in a strong current. Almost fell in while capturing :) .
