Like most people, I am many things. Primarily I am lucky.

Well, lucky and fortunate.

With encouragement from a young age, I have lived my life on my terms. This includes a life-long commitment to being a musician and creating my own career from sheer will power and self belief within interactive/technology. Both focuses are very intertwined and continue to serve as guideposts for me.

From the late 80’s and for the majority of the 90’s I pursued my musical dreams with gusto, while at the same time began my formal interest in design/technology/photography. I maintained my musical pursuits until I reached a wall. When I met the wall, I climbed over and landed at my desk as an interactive professional.

For the last 15+ years I have been working in interactive for creative agencies and start up ventures.

I had the distinct pleasure of riding the “dot-com” wave and the equal pleasure/displeasure (depended on the day) of crashing on the beach of reality from said wave. Though some experiences left a sour taste in my mouth (with respect to the work not living on with those that did it), the experiences and knowledge gained from working at that pace have formed the foundation for what I do today.

I learned valuable lessons from those times and the lessons learned carry on into my current work. For the majority of the last 8 years I have been employed by creative agencies working on enterprise level projects for companies as diverse as Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Intel, Kodak, Novell, Sydney Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera of NY.

Recently my focus reverted back to start ups. I’m fresh off of a 2 year stint with an exciting virtual world business in San Francisco. And now, for the last year, I have been working at a local agency here in Portland as a Technical Director. I get to apply my strategic and business thinking to client challenges as well as assist in growing existing business and winning new business. It’s been rewarding thus far and I hope it continues.

One thing I do know, I will maintain my commitments to music and to my career in balance with my family.
